It’s finally starting to feel a little bit like fall around here! Some of the leaves have started changing, falling, and the temperature is just a tad bit cooler. And while Thanksgiving is not too far away, we are in full Christmas decorating mode around here. It really IS bringing joy!
After Emery’s nap, she sometimes (well more often that not) wakes up a little grumpy. I’m not sure why this is, any tips mamas? One thing that is almost always guaranteed to calm her though, is outdoor play. That’s why this outdoor fall ‘soup’ was just the recipe we needed today, she played for almost an hour!
Our yard is full of acorn pieces from the squirrels munching away in the trees above, so the grass isn’t exactly soft to sit on. I spread out our Gathre mat, which is waterproof by the way, and set everything up. We used a big ole plastic tub , a stainless steel bowl, these cute stainless steel pans from Ikea, stainless steel cooking utensils, something for pouring and scooping and we went to work collecting ‘ingredients’ for our soup. Our little chef found acorns, different colored leaves, sticks, rosemary and thyme from our garden, a little bit of mulch and a few rocks. Sounds like one yummy soup on the menu!
Our little chef got right to work and sous chef Hollis was right there in the mix, adding her flair to the concoction 😉 It was the perfect activity to be outside enjoying the weather and soaking up sweet moments like this together. Happy cooking little chefs!
Love,
Mama M
